Looking for a new apartment can either be exciting or stressful. Ensuring it’s a positive experience depends on your preparation. Do you have a checklist ready?
This list can vary from one person to another and some of the things to consider when searching for their next apartment are the following:
- Location: Perhaps the most important thing to look for is a good location, which has a close proximity to work, public transportation, shops and gyms. (Maritime in Barrow-in-furness is perfect I agree) ⚓️
- Storage: When checking out the apartment, inspect the cupboards etc and see the amount of space there is. This is since you will surely bring plenty of personal stuff to the new apartment so the closets should be able to accommodate them all. If not, ask if there is extra storage available on site.
- Appliances: Though washing machines and dishwashers are not considered as essential, they can surely make life a lot easier. Some of our people use the local laundry services next to Maritime but some of you would rather use a washing machine in the apartment. Whatever your choice, pop it on the list. We can do that ☝️
- Insurance: if the property has insurance listed as included then that’s a good thing. Otherwise, you’ll want travel insurance which is easy to find.
- Heating and Hot Water: You couldn’t live without the obvious comforts of heat ans instant hot water. But check if the temperature is centralised, one in every room or there is none at all? (We have a thermostat that you control to your liking ans radiators you can adjust in each room). If there are tenants around while touring, all bills are included in your fully serviced rental. And if you are renting unfurnished your heating bill is capped weekly at a low amount. 🔥
- Pet policy: In case you have a pet, you should first check out our pet policy. We allow pets (under certain conditions), however If pets are not allowed in the strange place you are looking at, you should just look for another place (Us). On the other hand, if the building accepts pets but they have allergies and they cannot stand the odd barking dog (we have 4 lovely, well mannered dogs in residence over 318 apartments, it’s very quiet); but if you do have allergies or done like getting licked on a Monday morning on your way to work, this place may not be an ideal home for you.
- Parking: Convenient parking space is crucial when renters have a car. You wouldn’t want to spend too much time going around in circles after a tiring day at work even if it is a very nice place. If you happen to visit the apartment on a weekend, drop by on a busy day to see if it is easy to park or ask the other renters if they have a difficult time. 🚗
- Security: Our offices are open late and security patrol each evening. If you are living by yourself, it would be best to look for an apartment with on site security or a doorman. A smaller building with higher floors is sometimes safer than garden units or those on the ground floor.
